Hello Cuties!!
Papillon has released Volume 3! I hoped to post about this sooner but I wanted to put some real thought behind my words seeing how it's the last volume. So I revisited my first post(s) about Papillon. (You can visit the very first post here.)
I talked a lot about what significance being a part of this project held. Falling into the footsteps of the gaijin Gals I admire so much wasn't my plan, but I'm happy I was not only given the opportunity, but that I accepted the invitation. Previously, I sat by awestruck by the creativity of the gaijin community. In the past there have been a few other gaijin driven e-magazines. And I found it amazing that they were capable of producing a magazine akin to the ones we all obsessed over: Ageha, EGG, Popteen, Ranzuki, etc.

It was a big thing at the time. More-so one of those "wait, we can do that?" moments. It was cool to see a space where gals from all over could come together. Gals of different background, skintone, and style. And it was an even bigger deal to me seeing and discovering more Black gals via the e-magazines. Sadly many of them have since left the Gyaru community. So when Papillon was created I jumped at the chance to become those models I aspired to be like. That was another great portion of what my first Papillon post was about.
In those early posts, I wandered the possibilities of influencing and inspiring Black youth or other POC. And much to my surprise, it happened. Angelsx Gyarusa published a very thoughtful post about their favorite Black gaijin Gyaru. And I was mentioned!
"It's crazy, going into Papillon I didn't think I'd measure up to the other gals. But I suppose they see improvement in me and I'm truly thankful for this." - [ about my spread in the Galentine Special
x] These words still ring true; however, now in reference to appearing in every volume. I am still very thankful, blessed even.

This third volume is extremely important to me. I truly feel it holds my personal best. I participated a lot more in this final issue and I feel so proud of myself. I was nervous to see my final product, but as usual the Papillon Team did an outstanding job with production! Here are some of my absolute favorite moments from the recent volume.
AH! I don't want to spoil too much~ This is such an amazing issue! It may have taken a while to produce, but I believe it was worth the wait. The visuals are stunning, you can tell a lot of time and care was put into each spread. There are many good makeup tips and step by step tutorials. This beauty volume is a great detailed introduction to anyone getting into Gyaru!

here! I was crushed by the news of Papillon coming to an end. But gaijin Gals aren't going anywhere, so I'm sure a new e-magazine will surface one day. ♥ As always, thank you so much for viewing and reading. I'll do some lookbook posts soon guys! Please look forward to it~
xoxo, Amiman ♥
I still can't get over that you felt you had to "measure up to the other gals" when you are one of the most amazing gals I know. Like not even sugarcoating it. You bring out the cute, the sexy and whatever other style you want. I feel like the rest of us had to measure up to you with every look you serve! ♥ Either way, I was super happy to have you on board when I was working on the magazine and loved seeing you blossom with each submission. Thank you for being a part of it. And who knows, maybe one day we'll have some form of a magazine again! And I expect to see you as a cover gal ;o♥
ReplyDelete(*´ I `) *sobbing profusely* I love youuuuu ♥ Really though, you are so kind~ I felt confident about maybe 3 looks out of my entire Papillon run (ToT). (It's true that you're always your own biggest / strongest critic.) It's like "mm I like it but it could've been better". I always had fun though! It was an exciting experience and I looked forward to seeing everyone's looks. Papillon served as a great motivator. It gave me the drive to improve ♥
DeleteAnd thank me?! YOU should be thanked for all your hard work. Editing and modeling?? I was giddy any time I saw your face~ Hopefully another magazine will pop up soon! Me as a cover girl?? A dream I hope comes true one day~ (did you see Lala is doing magazine cover commissions? I just might do it~)
