Gyu-Kaku ! 乾杯 !

Hello Cuties!

On January 25th I met up with friends to celebrate my friend Kristen's birthday!  She invited Prince and I to her big dinner at Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese BBQ!  Actually, I've been dying to try this place for some time now.

The main attraction of Gyu-Kaku is the barbecuing.  Every table has a grilling pit in the middle.  I was beyond nervous to grill the meat myself!  I can't cook y'all!  (lol)  I'm always afraid of consuming under-cooked meat.  But fears aside, after I saw that menu, I was ready to chow down!!

I'm usually to anxious to ask questions in situations like these, but I really wanted to have the best experience there.  When our waiter came to the table I asked him for recommendations based off of my tastes in food.  I'm not too familiar with meat cuts, marinade and whatnot.  He was SO helpful!  After telling him what I like, he recommended the yaki-shabu beef!

I wanted to try as much as I could this first time, so I also ordered a main dish.  The waiter told me their garlic noodles were best sellers so I decided to get the garlic shrimp noodles.  And boy were they delicious!

The cooking portion was pretty funny to watch  。゚( ゚^∀^゚)゚。.  I gave up because I was terrible at it, so I let Prince take over.  My friends were struggling about as much as I was, but eventually they got the hang of it.

What I loved most about this was you could alter the taste with marinade choices.  My favorite is the "sweet soy tare" which consists of : soy sauce, pear juice and ginger!

I was determined to try it all despite how quickly I get full.  I wanted dessert and I already had my eyes set on one particular thing!  Taiyaki with ice cream~   Prince ordered their matcha tiramisu.

This was soooo yummy!

I'm so happy I finally got to try Gyu-Kaku!! Have you tried Japaneses or Korean bbq?  They've become so popular in my city it's hard to get a table!  Fingers crossed this isn't my last time visiting Gyu-Kaku tho; I think I'm addicted.

  1. Ahhhh I'm so happy you got to go to this place! We have a few in NY (one of them right by where I work) and I love it. It's too expensive to go all the time but it's a really nice treat when you save up enough. Ahhhhh I wanna go again. I love their food ToT
