Papillon Tutorial: Happiness in Hair-buns

Back again Cuties~

Last post I shared my favorite pages from the new volume of Papillon and my featured photos!  I had the honor of sharing a cute and easy hairstyle.  I was surprised when the staff asked me if I'd be interested in providing hairstyle photos since I'm not the best at hair styling (lol).  But I said "heck yeah, let's do this"!

Hair buns or space-buns are my go to hairstyle in day to day life.  Many tutorials in the Japanese magazines that we grew up loving were so cute, but usually used straight hair or incorporated heat styling.  And I wanted this rendition to be all-inclusive.  This way, my natural Gals have an option to not use heat on their hair or not wear a wig.  (Not to say anything is wrong with either, it's just the point of having the option not to depend on either.)

Those hair tutorials in Popteen usually have really cutesy bangs, while I don't have bangs, I decided to frame my face with two strand twists!  I thought it would be a nice equivalent to curling two pieces of hair (for those who have straight hair).

Styling natural hair can be a bit tricky at times.  To keep my hair moisturized while also keeping its curl pattern, I used two Carol's Daughters products : pracaxi nectar twisting custard and coco creme moisture butter.

Even though my makeup wasn't the focal point, I did play around with it.  I don't care for the lashes I ended up wearing, but I wanted to try something different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (lol).  This was my first time using my "Orange you Glad" palette from Colourpop!  I was on an orange kick at the time, so I did an orange lip combo using "foolish" from Colourpop and "cherry cheesecake" gloss from Nyx.

Bonus!

Getting to show the versatility in natural hair was very gratifying.  I don't know if it will make many reappearances, but like I said, it's just nice to have the option.  It's nice to see that natural hair can fit within Gyaru.   It's heartwarming to see all the love I'm receiving about my hair.  I cannot say it enough, it means a lot to me.

Thank you for reading!

I wuv you~~ ♥ I really was so shocked they asked me for a hairstyle, I always kick myself over the fact that I never really style my hair for gyaru. So I'm glad they did ask me because it was great practice! I've gotten compliments on this spread so that makes my heart happy~
