Morning & Bedtime Beauty Routine!

Hello Cuties~

This post has been on my to-do list for a while!  And now that I definitely have more of a routine, I wanted to share!

Wakey-wakey~  It's time to get ready!  Take your vitamins and brush your teeth!

Firstly I was my face with raw black soap.  I buy mine either from the French Market downtown or from Africa Love, an African shop on Magazine St.  I know it looks a little weird but it's made from beneficial plants and oils of West Africa.

After towel drying, I apply Fourth Ray's So Radiant eye cream directly under my eyes.  I learned that patting it in with my finger works best for me.  Although I do have one of those rollers. . . I should try that some day.

Next I go in with my niacinamide + zinc serum from The Ordinary.  This serum helps with irregular texture of the skin.  It's also good for tackling acne!
After working that through my skin, I moisturize.  Recently I've been using Tula Skincare's 24/7 moisture cream.
Lastly is sunscreen!  For my face I use Black Girl Sunscreen.  I hope all my chocolate beauties are learning to protect their skin.  It's a weird thing in the black community, a lot of us don't believe we need to use sunscreen.  We're not exempt from skin cancer y'all, please use sunscreen.

And for the body, I've been loving Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch!  It leaves a bit of gold glitter behind and smells like the sweetest coconut cream~~

And now for my bedtime routine~  Fresh out the shower, it's time to wash the long day off of my face.  I also want to include my makeup removal process.

First thing's first, let's take off those lenses and lashes.  To remove my falsies, I take a q-tip and soak it in liquid makeup remover.  I use any brand's micellar water or something comparable.  I rub the q-tip across the band until I've broken up the glue, that way the lashes just slide right off!

Now the fun part (@_@) (lol).  To tackle the layers of foundation, concealer and powders, I use Pond's cold cream.

I literally scoop this out with my hands and rub in into my skin.  The makeup lifts effortlessly . . . however it is a mess (lmao).  I work this in everywhere, on my eyelids to rid myself of eyeshadow and even the mascara.

The Palmer's fade cream is only for desperate times.  It's to fade dark spots on my skin.  But beware that it is only to be applied at night since it has retinol.  Retinol can be strong to some individuals.   (Next day you must wear sunscreen to lessen chances of being burned or skin damage.)  Ps. this is used after washing my face.

Which brings us to the next step!  Removing the Pond's cold cream.  The instructions say to wipe it away.  I use any 'ol makeup wipes.  I grabbed a pack of Neutrogena Hydro-Boost wipes a while back, but recently switched to CVS' brand wipes.  Only because I do use the Hydro-Boost moisturizer at night and too much hyaluronic acid is too much for the skin.  BUT ANYWAY, I use the makeup wipes to wipe away the cold cream and makeup residue.

Now wash the skin!  Same as before, I use black soap~   Pat dry and then moisturize!  At night I use Neutrogena's Hydro-Boost gel.
Don't forget : brush, floss & mouthwash!
And now you're ready to catch that beauty rest you so rightfully deserve~
Thanks for reading!

  1. Pond's Cold Cream is genuinely the best for breaking down all sorts of makeup!! I used to use it for stage makeup.
Thanks for sharing your skincare routine! I do love The Ordinary as well and wish it was more readily available here.

  2. When I saw the raw black soap I thought it was a brownie ;v; (I'm a sucker for chocolate) but then right after I looked it up because it's truly curious, it's got so many natural & beneficial ingredients. Thank you for posting about it!

    1. My friend has been using No7 Beauty's under eye cream! She said it really works and she has really dark circles. (I'm sure it helps with fine lines too) Mine have lightened over time, not sure exactly what helped me. I kept trying different things...the Fourth Ray's cream is ok. I'm thinking of trying what she recommended. Only issue is I think it's usually a pricey item :/
