The Power of Makeup!

Hello Cuties~

Today, we chat about the power of makeup!
(Gyaru makeup of course . . . )

While removing my makeup I decided to go straight down the middle.  This way I can showcase the transformation of my face.  With Gyaru makeup our goal is typically to enlarge the eyes.  Me, I want the dolliest eyes on the block!  I favor spikey lashes or "anime lashes" as they're referred to now-a-days.  I feel there are a lot of little tricks to help make the eyes appear bigger.  (we'll get to that . . . )

Can you see the pink hue of my blush?  The warm tones under my eyes to off set the dark circles?  I also try my best to "lift" the brow by correcting the shape with a eyebrow pencil and pens.  My eyebrows naturally curve into a C shape (lol).

Circle lenses also really aid in the transformation.

I know at some point flesh toned or white eyeliner was the "go to" for many people.  But I learned over time, it doesn't fit darker skintones.  Or rather it a turn to cosplay makeup if that makes sense.  Instead, I introduce light tones under my brows and at the inner corners of my eyes.  Placing light brown, white or even gold in these places really open up my eyes.

Glitter is another good tactic for Gyaru makeup.  It draws all the attention to your eyes!  I like to place this anywhere from the inner corners of my eye, the lid, to under my eyes.  Gotta love that sparkle effect! ⟡₊ ⊹

The true magic happens with eyeliner placement and the lashes you use.  There are endless combinations to create different looks.  The transformation behind makeup is truly a sight to see.  How do you like to modify your look?

Makeup Tips & Hacks You've Learned

Hello Cuties~

Today's post is a useful one, "makeup tips & hacks you've learned"!

I can't even remember where I heard or saw this trick, but it's helped me tremendously.  When applying eyelashes, I now use two layers.  Let the first layer dry completely, and let the second layer get "tacky" or "sticky" before finally applying.  The person explained it in a way I related to a lot.  They mentioned how older lashes tend to stick better versus brand new lashes.  It's usually because there's a layer of old glue that's left behind anyway (gross I know but admit it, you've reused some lashes that weren't cleaned beforehand. . . )  We do want to clean our lashes though; even if that means just peeling off the old glue.  We don't want too much glue caked onto the lash strip.

Another tip I've found that works for me is using an adhesive eyeliner.  The eyeliner glue in combination with the two layers of actual eyelash glue keeps my lashes in place ALL day.  It may seem like a lot to do or a lot of glue on your eyes, but as long as you take the time to properly remove your falsies, everything is good.

Speaking of removing lashes, a good tip is to use liquid makeup remover on a Q-tip.  Saturate the Q-tip and run it over the lash band on your eye until it loosens up all the glue.  And your falsies should slide off like butter!

Perhaps most people already know this, but use oil based products to remove lip products; especially liquid matte and lip stains.

The final step to your makeup is setting spray.  I then like to use a beauty blender to blot (lightly pat) areas I used setting powder.  It doesn't happen often, but some sprays and powders behave strangely together.  The set powder can become "spotted".  You can see where the droplets of setting spray have dried.  By using a beauty blender, you prevent this and give the face a flawless dry-down.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  Let me know if you use any of these tips and how they work out for you.

Face Masks Just Might Be the Best Makeup Hack

Hellooo Cuties~

This might be an odd blog post but, it's a topic that's been on my mind for a hot minute.  Bear with me here.  I'm going as far as to say that face masks are probably the best trick in the gyaru game.
ส• •̀ o •́ ส”

All jokes aside though, I'm quite serious.  No time for fancy makeup?  Keep it simple with the eyemake and toss on a mask.  You can cut your routine time in half!  Want to focus more on your hair?  Go ahead!

Don't think Manba, Yamanba, or Banbas can work their magic even with a mask?  THINK AGAIN!  Most of the more dramatic styles rely more on eyes anyway.  And only the bridge of your nose stripe will matter so who cares if makeup never stays on the tip of your nose; no one will see it!  If you're like me and have an oily nose, the mask is a life saver!

Gyaru makeup differs from normal makeup because of the eyes.  Eyes are a major part of gyaru makeup, so now it gets its time to shine!  Maybe this is the practice time you needed!  Sometimes following behind today's typical full face makeup routine can be both overwhelming and exhausting.  So lets focus on those eyes~

(I tried to make her match my current hair lol)

I've only worn a full face of makeup with a face mask once so far.  It didn't bother me at all.  I was worried about smudging or transferring onto the mask but that didn't happen either!  I'm planning to do "half make" moving forward (if masks are involved that is).

For reference, my "Super Gals" look I did a few weeks ago, was "half make".  I only used foundation under my eyes and on my nose, as well as some concealer.  I generously applied blush and did my eyes normally.  Topped everything off with lashes, setting spray and I was ready to go!

What do you think of this idea?  Have you ever considered simplifying your makeup in order to wear a face mask mess-free?  Tell me what you think!

How to Apply Falsies (Gyaru tips 'n tricks)

Hello Cuties~ I'm back with the second portion to the prior post!  Aren't you curious as to what I filmed?  It's been requested that I do a video on how I apply false eyelashes!  Now, as I mentioned in said video, I'm no professional but I thought I'd just give this a try.  I'm also not the best instructor but I really do hope you like the video!

The purpose of the video and this post is to also demonstrate how to modify, stack and apply eyelashes and accent pieces.  I've always studied the tutorials in Egg, especially when they show how they stack lashes and share what brands they use.  So I've attempted to do the same thing here.

Stacking lashes can be done in various ways.  Each number represents eyelash parts and the arrows depict where each part is placed on the eye.
There's the basic method of stacking where you use two whole upper eyelashes and place them on top of each other.
The next common method of stacking involves the addition of "snippets" or accent piece lashes either in the middle of the eye as shown here . . .
. . . or additions on the inner corner or outer corners of the eyes.  And lets not forget about the lower lashes!
In my demonstration, I decided to use the second and third methods by adding accent pieces to the middle and outer eye.

Once I've uploaded the video, I will share it here on my blog.  I'm thinking the title will be along the lines of Gal Lessons:  Applying Lashes.  But how do you guys feel about making "Gal Lessons" a section here on Alice in Gyaruland?  Every so often I'll tackle "how to" videos and posts on skills that Gyaru use.  Sound like a good idea?
