♡MOC Day5: ←Turn Back Time!←♡

anyway I'm back with the next challenge entry!

♡Turn Back Time♡

when I first saw the title for this makeup challenge I immediately thought about "old school" gyaru looks! So I delved into all the magazine scans and tumblr tags that I could find for inspiration.

My personal favorite looks are from (of course) Egg magazine!
Idk what it is about those older issues, but I enjoy looking at them; especially the "Street Groove" section with the street snaps of coordinates.

For hairstyle I was inspired by this:

For makeup I took inspiration from these pictures:

 Waah Egg gals were so fun lol When it came to makeup brows were thin & arched, false lashes were mostly natural style, and lips were glossy & nude. I'll admit it's not a good look for me makeup-wise, but I wanted to give it a try!

♡Closeup♡

To me, gyaru makeup was all in the eyeliner back then.  I feel like most of the gal's falsies looked the same, light and kind of natural (both upper and lower lashes). I wanted to key in that "white around the eyes" look but the white eyeshadows I currently own aren't as pigmented as they are chalky and powdery lol But I tried ~ If anything I kinda do like the silver eyeliner I used beneath the eyeliner wing and in the inner corner.  Also I tried to be as light as I could about my eyebrows but mine are thicker than what most gals sported in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Now my favorite part (even though this is a makeup challenge), the outfits!

I still can't believe it, but I came across a few downloads for Egg and Ageha issues from 2008 and 2009! Usually the links for such downloads have been removed are broken.

Trends I noticed:

• fedoras, beanie, berets

• graphic t-shirts / tops

• patterned tights / stockings

• denim skirts

• accessorizing skirts with belts

• uggs and boots

• overalls

I decided to do two different coordinates to incorporate the different trends

I know I always say this but, I enjoyed doing this. But I guess that's because I'm always happy when doing my makeup! Makeup brings me so much happiness ~
